If you’re looking to alter the look of your Dr Martens boots in a subtle but impactful way, you might want to try changing up the way your laces are done up.
Dr Martens usually come with the laces set up in a criss-cross pattern. This is pretty much the standard with all footwear that use shoelaces these days. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Because most Dr Martens boots and shoes are laced up in this manner, a quick change in the way you lace up your pair can make them instantly stand out.
One way you can change up the lacing pattern on your Dr Martens is to uses what’s called straight lacing or bar lacing your shoelaces. This is when, instead of having your laces come up in a criss-cross patter, you have parallel bars formed by your laces, going up the eyelets of your boots.
